Dawn Landes is a NYC singer/songwriter. I saw her backed by a full bluegrass band in Austin and it was one of the better performances I witnessed. Although she doesn't sound like Joanna Newsom, I tend to think of her in the same capacity as Newsom. Here are some treats. Oh, and she has a nice cover of Peter, Bjorn & John's "Young Folks" available on iTunes too.

English singer/songwriter/violinist/composer extraordinaire Patrick Wolf's The Magic Position has been my favorite record of 2007 thus far. I love his upbeat, quirky, electronically fringed tracks, but these two that bring a close to the album are some of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. Don't believe me? Try them!
